Consultation on draft guidance for DNA mixture interpretation

In News by Forensic Analysts

PFS members Kevin Sullivan, Sue Pope, Jonathan Whitaker and Ian Evett have worked on compiling the ‘DNA Mixture Interpretation: draft guidance’ which is intended to sit within the Forensic Science Regulator’s (FSR) Codes of Practice and Conduct.  The purpose of the document is to provide guidance for forensic scientists in the interpretation of autosomal DNA profiles in cases where a comparison is to be made between the DNA profiles of one or more known individuals and a mixed DNA profile from a sample of questioned origin.

The FSR now seeks views on the draft guidance which should be submitted by 5th November 2017 and all comments will be considered before publication of the final document.
