Lynne is a senior scientist with over 25 years’ experience in the field of forensic science, which includes over 16 years experience of high profile multi-disciplinary complex casework. Her career started at the Forensic Science Service in London where she was employed as a DNA analyst processing both PACE and crime scene samples, and subsequently as a Forensic Scientist in the Sexual Offences team. More recently she was employed at LGC Forensics Ltd (now Eurofins), Teddington as a Lead Scientist & Sexual Offences Forensic Advisor and was DNA Lead for Teddington. She joined ArroGen Forensics Ltd in 2013 delivering a wide portfolio of case review. She now works independently as Director and Consultant Forensic Scientist within her own company, Millington Hingley Ltd.
Over her career, she has been involved in the forensic investigation of hundreds of major incidents. She has reported all aspects of forensic biology including, evaluation and interpretation of body fluids, DNA interpretation and evaluation, using both standard and specialist methods and blood pattern analysis (BPA). She has given expert scientific evidence, including in many high-profile forensic investigations, in courts across England and Wales and also via video link to New Zealand for the prosecution and defence. She has received commendations and letters of appreciation from the Metropolitan Police Service, The British Transport Police, Bedfordshire Police, CPS and judiciary which demonstrate her tenacity, professionalism and her commitment to delivering excellence.
Lynne specialises in reviewing sexual offence cases and evaluating DNA profiling results, including complex mixtures and those generated using high sensitivity and specialist techniques. Over her career she has reported DNA profiles generated using various technologies and is familiar with the strengths and limitations of each. She now regularly reviews and advises on results that have been subjected to specialist statistical methods, such as STRMix and LiRa.
She has a track record of delivering training and guidance to Defence Counsel, Crown Prosecutors and Police Officers in areas of Forensic Biology and the Interpretation and Evaluation of Scientific Evidence. She is also a Visiting Lecturer at South Bank University, London on their undergraduate programme.
Lynne has an Honours Degree in Biological Sciences (Genetics and Zoology) and she supplements this foundation with on-the job training and CPD.
She is an experienced forensic scientist with extensive experience in forensic casework. She provides independent consultancy and training in forensic science. She specialises in body fluid & DNA interpretation and sexual offence investigation.
